It certainly looks as though 2024 came in with a bang! Our DPW crews worked around the clock during last weekend’s snow event to keep our roads clear for us and then transitioned right into picking up your Christmas trees that were left curbside. Great Job everyone!

Your board of Selectman met last night and for the first time in the history of Canton government, we adopted, unanimously, our Mission Statement. What is a mission statement ? “A mission statement is a brief statement that defines the purpose of an organization and what it aims to achieve. It is usually a short paragraph or a sentence that summarizes the goals, values, and objectives. A mission statement is an important document that helps guide the decision-making process, inspires employees and residents and communicates the boards core values to the public.”
I am thrilled to share that mission statement with you today.

It is the mission of the Board of Selectmen to promote a Town government that provides quality and efficient services; keeps the public informed through multiple forms of communication; encourages a safe, secure, and respectful environment for the exchange of ideas; promotes economic development that expands the tax base while supporting and protecting Canton’s rich cultural and historical heritage; and celebrates all the unique qualities that makes Canton special.
