On Friday, August 30, we bid a fond farewell to Robert Skinner, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Canton after 16 years of dedicated service.  Bob was the longest serving CAO for the town.  Bob’s leadership, stability and understanding of what it takes to lead a town will certainly be missed.

Luckily,  The town has very talented employees to which the Board of Selectman has chosen Taryn Schrager to lead the town as acting CAO on an interim basis.  Taryn’s developed skills and dedication to the town as the Director of Parks & Recreation will serve the town well as we seek a permanent replacement to Bob’s position.

The Board of Selectman has appointed Selectman Sedor and Selectman Winsor to serve as its executive search committee.  The executive search committee received many résumé’s from interested individuals and narrowed the field of applicants to eleven individuals.

The 11 individuals were subsequently invited to an interview panel which consisted of three area town managers.  Thank you to the three town managers for assisting Canton in its search for a new Chief Administrative Officer.  The candidates were then ranked by the panel and those were forwarded on to the search committee.

The search committee will then interview the top five candidates and forward several recommendations to the full Board of Selectman.

It is our intention to interview these candidates in September and make an offer to a candidate by end of September/early October.
